Taíno Natural Dyes
Description
Explore the vibrant world of Taíno natural dyeing and the botanical and ancestral stories behind the plants that lend us their vibrant colors. In this workshop, we will learn the basics of prepping and using natural dyes. Together, we’ll prepare a natural dye bath and transform a piece of Sea Island cotton using these indigenous botanicals. In addition, we will also have the chance to experiment with temporary plant-based pigments on skin for an explorative, hands-on experience. Beginner-friendly and perfect for anyone curious about Taíno culture, Antillean plants, craft, and plant-based color. ***If you want an natural dye kit for the workshop mailed to you, indicate at checkout under registration options.
